Default Can you beat a parking ticket in LA?

I have been here about a month and just got a red zone ticket. I'm in Los Feliz and parking is not easy. I parked in a red zone after 20 minutes of driving around looking for a space. I intended to come back down in a few minutes to move the car and forgot. I did the crime but $75 is crazy! The spot I parked in caused no safety problems. The ticket was written 10 minutes after I parked. I consider myself to be a honorable person but this is tempting me to look for a loophole. Anyone have a secret password? Anyone to convince me to shut up and pay?

I don't see a compelling argument for why you shouldn't have to pay. So pay. And don't do that again. Red zones, where they occur, are there to prevent parking in tight spots where emergency vehicles may/will have difficulty passing through. The last thing I or anyone else needs is to have someone, who is "inconvenienced", blocking access during an emergency...which would be a real inconvenience, to say the least, for everyone involved.

Count yourself lucky that parking in a red zone only cost you $75. I think you got off too cheap. I once parked in a metered spot not knowing that it was "street cleaning" day. Looking at the state of that street the last time anyone cleaned it was probably before the 1994 earthquake. Cost me 55 bucks.

Such conformity in LA. I would never park in a manner that could cause possible harm to anyone but a warning ticket might have convinced me this was not such an obvious revenue scam. My anarchistic streak is emboldened.

It's just a parking ticket. Better than a moving violation which would cause your insurance rates to jump and possibly lose your license(well, i guess thats just me )

Parking Tickets are the way the city of LA pays for itself and now that there's a deficit there will be even more tickets going around. I used to live in Koreatown so I know what it's like to live in area where it's hard to find parking. Sometimes I had to park two or three blocks away it sucks. Welcome to LA.

You knowingly parked in the red and got caught. Its red for a reason. You're lucky they didn't tow you. Just wait until you get a ticket when there's half a dozen parking regulation signs within 20 feet and you truly don't know its illegal to park at that particular time and date because the signs are so confusing. I'd have some sympathy for you in that case.

That is so not true. I have seen red zones for trash cans....
