Default Aussie In The House!

Hey everybody,

My names Rick, I currently live in Melbourne, Australia and I wish to move to Los Angeles, ASAP. I really don't know where to start though and thought to ask for some help.

Any ideas?

I think the best place to start whenever moving to a city is to obtain a job or at least see how competitive the job market for your field is. If you move to Los Angeles, Chicago, or similar without employment you will become homeless fairly quickly unless you have several hundred thousand saved up. Another thing to look at is if you can afford to live in Los Angeles. It is a tricky situation even if you have a couple million to spend. Another thing to do is to visit Los Angeles, it is an aquired taste and obviously from this forum you can see that many move to Los Angeles without knowing much about the community.

You are saying you have to move ASAP. Why? Like Nysee53 said, your first and foremost concern needs to be survival. The big cities in the US chew up and spit out people who arrive with no game plan, contacts, etc. Especially if you don't have money. FYI, There are other cities in the US besides LA.
