Thinking of buying in WEST COVINA...
THINKING OF BUYING IN WEST COVINA...
I am currently looking to buy a house and have seen that I can get some good bang for my buck in the West Covina area! Does anyone have any info on it? I would be commutting downtown everyday! I know traffic will be bad, but is it a show stopper? Also, how is the cities people, restaurant, nightlife, etc?

The reason why you can get so much house for the money out there is BECAUSE of the deadly commute to downtown. However, there is a Metrolink stop in Covina and in El Monte... maybe other places as well. Can you ride the train downtown and pick up your cop car there?
Someone else can speak better than I can about the people, restaurants, nightlife. CESpeed?

West Covina is a very lovely area. It does get really hot (the first time I ever used A/C). Outside of that, the shopping is fun. My sister and I love the West Covina Mall. People are going to tell you that there are problems there, but I've been going for years and have never had a problem or felt unsafe. My sister is blind in one eye and is in a wheelchair and she goes there by herself. No problems. I'm not a night owl, so I can't speak for the nightlife, but the there is every kind of restaurant you could possibly want.
The people I've met are very nice and the police are incredibly responsive adn polite. I called one night (1 am) when I saw someone I didn't recoginze in my building and two squad cars were there in less than ten minutes. They searched the building, escorted me to my apartment, and searched it.
I lived near Citrus and the 10 so I was very centrally located. If you have more questions feel free to DM me.

west cov is a far flung suburb of LA. it will be a bad commute on a freeway that every one is using. the 10 and the 60 are jammed headed east in the evenings. but if your schedule is outside the rush hour time period then it wont be too bad.
the city is about 50% latino. asians are also a big portion and white people too. its pretty diverse and pretty safe. many middle class and upper middle class homes. its a decent area. but somewhat boring. its about 25 miles out of LA. so if you are lookin for inghtlife or concerts or shows, you would have tocome into LA for the most part. it is close to the OC which has a bunch of places to see and visit. it aint that bad. but it is suburban.
i have family that moved out of east los to west cov and they love it. a nice home right next to a park. very quiet. very family oriented.

There really isn't much of a nightlife in West Covina. But it's not all that far from Pasadena and Orange County, so you do have options.
