Is it misleading for someone from Canyon Country to say they are from L.A.?

Canyon Country is still in L.A. County, so why not? (I think it's somewhat silly to worry about such trivialities!)

I don't know if I would call it misleading, but I typically do not describe this area as L.A. The county goes clear up to the 138 in the Antelope Valley and "up" there they describe L.A. as "down below".

Not at all...

Many view LV as simply a distant suburb of LA...

Need to think in terms of economic regions, not silly city/county/state borders...

It depends. To someone in a different state, I might describe it as LA. To someone in Southern CA, I would probably differentiate a little more.

Canyon Country is on another planet compared to L.A.

never even heard of canyon country...

but for laces like gardena or pomona, people from so cal would understand. an outsider wouldnt. you would have to say, the LA area, or SOuthern Cali.

its kinda like san leandro. people in the bay know where its at. others most likely wont.

i do think its funny when people in thousand oaks or simi say they live in LA> well they live in the larger LA area, but usually its about an hour to "get into" LA.

i consider LA, downtown and a 10 to 15 mile radius. the funny thing is that even then, a large section of LA proper is excluded (the valley). But LA has always been Downtown and its surroundings.
