Hi guys!

I'm hoping to come to LA for a week or 2 in December (I live in the UK), I'll be going to a concert at The Forum. How easy is it to get there on public transport from the Hollywood Blvd area? I've found the Metro website, is it safe to travel on there late at night? The Forum's website has no contact details and the hotels I've asked wern't very helpful so I'm hoping someone here can help me!

I have been to LA once before so I have a vague idea of where things are.

Thank you!

Gem x

It will take about an hour or more to get to Hollywood from the Forum. Luckily you can take one bus. But in order to do so you'll have a good hike. The bad news is by the time you leave your concert, those buses maybe down to 1/2 hour to an hour wait. And that part of town is the beginning of Inglewood's sketchiness. I would recommend that you stay in the Miracle Mile area if you can afford it. It'll be a lot closer and more central to the things you may want to visit.

Why not stay in a hotel near the airport for the concert, then move to another one after the concert.

I wouldn't recommend taking public transportation at night (after sundown) anywhere in Los Angeles.

the biggest problem will be, as noted by ces, the wait time for the bus after the concert.

it is fine to take a bus after sunset. but you have to know what buses still run, or where to catch certain buses. after a specific hour some bus lines are truncated. i take PT at all hours, and the worst wait is late at night. even tho the buses might come just a frequently on some lines, it just feels longer. the plus is that the buses move faster because of less traffic.

you can check metro.net for buslines. the closest might be the crenshaw bus. but the western ave bus has a rapid that is a bit more reliable.
check the metro map. check the lines and then check the timetables. see when the last bus runs. if its a day concert then you will be fine. if its a night conert, then there might be trouble moving about. good luck.

Actually the closest buses to the Forum that service Hollywood are the 210 on Crenshaw or the 212 on La Brea. If memory serves me correctly, they are about the same distance, but I think La Brea might be closer.
