When I was a kid, building construction occurred Monday through Friday, because Saturday and Sunday were for time with family, friends, running personal errands, going to church, etc.

Those days are long gone -- welcome to the Post-American America.

Now, if you want to sleep in on Saturday, forget it if there's a construction project occurring close to your residence. Is it any wonder there are so many cranky people in this city? If you miss sleeping in on Sunday, then sleep deprivation carries on for a whole additional week.

Why do we tolerate this?

Oh, that's right, city hall is bought and paid for by developers, and their profits trump the physical and emotional well being of everybody else -- gotta get the new building up as soon as possible so that ROI gets back ASAP...what will I do if I need to wait an extra two months to get that Lambo with paddle shifters and jumbo yacht, so to heck with the neighborhood, I'll have the slaves work Saturdays too...

And what about the workers themselves -- do they not want to spend Saturdays with their kids?

Absolute rubbish...

In the city of LA, Sunday construction noise is illegal.
Call the police if it occurs.

I honestly rather have Saturday construction than have the projest last even longer with Mon-Fri.

With Saturday the project can be build faster.

Its because the illegal aliens broke the construction trades unions back a decade or two ago. Also what once was a ticket to middle class died with that.

Well i live in the burbs so this senario doesn't bother me but even if i lived in DTLA i wouldn't mind construction because i enjoy the benefiets of Gentrification plus watching buildings go up and watching street landscape change is pretty cool. It's all about perspective my friend :-)

How do you feel about exploiting people by telling them they need to work on Saturdays if they want to keep their job?

So you are saying nobody should have to work on a Saturday? As in, no grocery stores, shops, or restaurants should be open either? After all those people should be with their families too, right?

Or is someone just grumpy about getting woken up at 8am on a Saturday and needed to vent?
