Radiohead concert at the Hollywood Bowl tonight's sold out(no surprise there) and I don't want to spend 100-200 on tickets. However, I live literally across the street. Would I be able to hear the music from the parking lot? I was thinking about just grabbin' a sixer of good beer and drinking/grooving in the parking lot. I know at alot of music venues, you can hear the music from the parking lot. However, I haven't been to the H Bowl and I'm not too sure how far back it is from the gates???

Thanks in advance.

The Bowl is pretty far in from the street but if it's loud enough, you never know.

Thanks. Think I'll venture out there right now and see if I can hear the opening band.

There is no way you can get to the parking lot at the Bowl. You must be very very new to the area and have no idea what parking is like at the Bowl. All parking is stacked and most people park at other lots and take the shuttle bus to get in. Plus, there is no drinking in public.

Be sure to post in the morning after you get bailed out of jail to let us know how things went.

Went out there and couldn't hear a thing. Might try to get tix for the show tomorrow night. There was PLENTY of room to drink in the parking lot. There's tons of picnic tables set up! I know they have stack parking, but there was plenty of room. Also, many, many people drinking in public...just like every other concert I've gone too.

No need to be nasty, beez. Don't know if you noticed in my original post, but I live 5 minutes away(walking) from the Bowl in the Whitley Heights area, so it's not like I was trying to drive and park in the parking lot. Yes, I am new here. Been here a week. Does that bother you?

Sorry if I'm coming off as rude, but you came off as rude to me. If you weren't trying to be, my apologies...

Didnt mean to come across as rude. Sorry about that. Im just a stickler for doing the right thing and following the rules (as in no drinking in public) thats all. It just kind of bothers me when I see people drinking in public where it isnt allowed or smoking in designated non smoking areas.

I would have thought the topography and the general design of the Bowl would have precluded being able to hang-out outside and listen in...

I lived a couple of blocks from the bowl for several years, never heard a thing from any of the concerts. You would hear lots of horn honking, etc after a show, especially the rock concerts. On occasion I could see the very top of the fireworks, but you wouldn't hear any of the booms. The way the band shell is set up and the amphitheater is designed the sound doesn't escape, but it sounds great inside.
