Is it hard in L.A to find a job? (Los Angeles: rent, home)

Whats good everyone? I am moving from Boston to L.a sept 8th. I dont have a job lined up due to the fact that it is hard trying to find a job when you live 3,000 miles away from the place you want to work at, but is it going to be hard at first trying to find a job cause i only have a limited amount of money to work with. Please let me know cause Im a little anxious about the whole move. Oh ya this is my first time away from home and living in my rents house.

You'll have to tell us a little more about yourself and why you are making the big cross-country diagonal move down to LAville.

In a nutshell, the place will suck your wallet clean in a day or two if you don't watch out real good.

Yes, it is VERY hard to find a GOOD PAYING job here if you don't already have one lined up.

Retail, supermarket and some construction jobs are easier to get.

You'll see how the job market is for you when you get here.

If you're uber motivated with an open mind and hit the ground running, you can find a good job. I've lived lots of places and this is by far the easiest place to get a quality job (or career). Be willing to work a little peripheral to whatever industry you're in (or something new) and you'll be surprised.

The key here is to network, network, network. The worst thing you can do is to use only employment magazines and Craigslist. If it's a good job on Craigslist, they may get 200 responses. My current situation was won from Craigslist because I beat out a bunch of other people. It was a far greater opportunity than I ever could have imagined. Another huge mistake is to pigeonhole yourself into something specific. Like I said, consider peripheral things. They might even pay better. Don't be afraid to accept something a little beneath you during your search, bills do have to be paid. There's enough discount shopping here not to impact your wallet too much. Coming from Boston the rent won't be a shock.

Smile, dress flawlessly and stay away from negative people. Examine your self-limiting beliefs before you make the trip and make adjustments accordingly and network, network, network! Find someone who is doing what you want to do and ask them how they did it. Sir Edmund Hillary of course was the first (with his team) to make it to the top of Mt. Everest. Many died and many failed for decades. After Hillary reached the top, the next team reached it 3 months later. Hmmmmm...

Work CAN be found, but you have to be open to all types of possibilities. You may have to work two part-time jobs before finding the one you want. NETWORKING IS VERY IMPORTANT IN LOS ANGELES! Can't emphasize that enough.

Good luck, but like I said don't expect LA to function the way YOUR current city does. It won't. You'll see what I mean when you get here.

ETA: I also agree about ads on Craigslist. An employer will put out a job ad at 9:00am and by 9:30am they'll have 300 responses.

So if no craigslist where search for job. I'm living in LA. I'm accounting student and try to find part time job for me. I full application many places (Marshal, Ross, Costco, Macy's I tried to apply bookkeeping jobs for build job experience history because i'm studying accounting, but everyone asking 3-4 years experience) and most of companies asking online application, after few minutes they sent me that they already pick someone for work, only because I don't have job experience history. That is stupid for me. Without known your abilities, without taken interview they are saying no.

Are you really an accounting student? How are you writing papers b/c not to mean but your grammar is horrible. This can't be a real post.
