Okay, I am about to accept an offer from SCE (Southern California Edison) in Rosemead. With that, I am thinking about moving to South Pasadena for a closer commute and better schools. What is everyone's thoughts? I currently work in local government but recently got my MBA to pursue other opportunities. I am not sure how much different SCE is from government plus I am questioning the long-term earnings potential at SCE versus local government. Some of us county folks make pretty good money with a pension and life-time medical so it's very hard to leave.

Help!

You will absolutely LOVE South Pasadena! Great place to buy (if you can afford) and put down roots. DO a search for South Pasadena and you will get tons of topics discussing the joys of SoPas

You can't go wrong with South Pas. Only problem is finding what you want for what you can afford. It took us nearly 5 years to find what we wanted, part of that was saving up and waiting for our first house in Alhambra to appreciate enough. Other possibilities in close proximity to Rosemead would be Arcadia and maybe Temple City. TC has a weird mix of housing but the schools are good and it's a little more affordable.

South Pasadena is a great place great neighborhood. The SCE is in Rosemead and there is a very nice golf course. Very gorgeous area, has a Walmart. New construction, new condos, townhomes. You can also try Hacienda Heights,Rowland Heights. Right on the 60 freeway. Arcadia,Temple City,North San Gabriel are great areas too.

Great responses so far. I looked at some listings on Redfin and there seems to be some affordable homes but small in size (which is okay).

Okay, looks like South Pas is a no brainer to live in.

What about SCE as a company to work for?
