Palmdale/Lancaster is a section 8 Ghetto. As well as a dumping point for sex offenders. Sierra Hwy is the new Figueroa.
Edit: We cannot forget the Doctor who was murdered on the west side as well. The plastic surgeon.

ibarrio, no one said that there was no crime here... But is it no where near as bad as you claim.
There is crime, but it is not a section 8 ghetto, please, if you have no proof for your inane statements go pawn them of ignoramuses who will buy them, because we have your number, and we ain't buyin'.
This whole sex offender bit is bull, why you hate the AV so much, I do not know, but your statements are just plane false.
BTW, glad to see the cops were doing their job, makes one feel quite safe, you have a problem with that apparently as well.

Why don't you add Lancaster, Quartz hill, and Littlerock to that. That is the AV and that would give you a better total.
Section eight is every where. Not to long ago the AV Press ran an article in which they talk to several residents of several west side neighbor hoods on the west side of Lancaster. We are talking new homes that run 400K plus. Which are now Bad areas in general.
Yes, the Westside (Palmdale, Most of Quartz Hill,...but not so much Lancaster) is better but I would still not recommend it.
In fact the safest high school in the area is in Littlerock High School (Far East Edge of Palmdale). You can call the district office to confirm this. Quartz Hill had their big problem last year and Lancaster High has a lot of racial issues.
Edit: I'm all for the police doing their job. I was using it as a point to let people know that the westside is not a utopia... free of crime. No area is free of crime and I'm giving my general overview of the area. I'm not going to sugarcoat it and say..yeah move on over because everything is fine and dandy. Palmdale and Lancaster have gone from one of the safest areas in Los Angeles County to one of the worst.

ibarrio, I would not recommend any of So Cali, but to claim it is as bad as you are saying is just wrong. Fact is it is not what you are claiming and You have yet to back up any of you claims.
So Cali is an expensive place to live, and for the money, Palmdale/Lancaster is about as good as it gets.
I have never had any problems here and either have my kids, I raised a teenager (who is now and adult) here and she did just fine at Highland High School.
Anyway, you have proven nothing except that you hate it here, which really does not mean much.

I'm not going to look up the facts for you. Read the Av Press and google around (The facts are out there).
Here is the paper: avpress.com
That will paint the picture better then you or I can. And your right about SoCal. That is why I'm leaving as well.

I know the facts, fact is you don't...Why would I google what I already know? You have made stuff up and have proven you cannot support any of your claims.
You may want to try patronizing someone else...

So people do not get murdered anywhere else in the country?
Good job at trying to detract from all your inane remarks...Sorry dear, you can try to detract, but that is only one statement you made. For instance you said:

Palmdale/Lancaster is a section 8 Ghetto. As well as a dumping point for sex offenders. Sierra Hwy is the new Figueroa.

And that is just not true.

10 murders in the AV this year. That speaks for itself. Source? AV Press
Your moving out of the area and won't even recommend So Cal let alone the AV. That speaks volumes.

I'm a realtor in the Antelope Valley, i.e., Palmdale/Lancaster. I have lived here going on 5 years now.
There are good areas and bad areas of this valley just as there are in any city anywhere in the world.
There are areas in both Palmdale & Lancaster that I refuse to show buyers houses. These areas are small compared to the city size.
I've seen people reply to similar questions with "say on the west side". If you are unfamiliar with the area then you wouldn't know that there are questionable areas on the west side of these cities just like there are questionable areas on the east side of both cities.
There is a west side neighborhood in Lancaster that contains a big concentration of section 8 houses --- it's surrounded by great neighborhoods but it's a scarry place itself.
Rancho Tierra Del Sol is an area between 25th East and 30th East, Avenue J and Avenue K in EAST Lancaster. This area has 1/2 acre and up parcels with only custom homes -- It's beautiful, upscale in this east lancaster area.
The east side has a lot of older homes. Too many people judge the entire neighborhood by a couple of run down houses on the block. EVERY block has an eyesore -- even on the west side. Heck I've seen BRAND NEW HOMES barely a year old that are neglected.
If two out of ten people gave the east side a chance, maybe we could weed out any undesirables, clean up the run down houses (how about buy one for cheap and fix it up the way you want?).
Or, go ahead and pay the inflated prices for a house on the west side..... where, by the way, a colleague of mine got his car broken into and vandalized right in the driveway of his QUARTZ HILL house. I leave my car unlocked.. I have for quite a few years now and no one bothers anything -- I live in East Lancaster.
Drive around Avenue I and 10th West (see.... WEST SIDE ZIP CODE) and tell me if you want to live on the west side.

Speaks to the fact that we do not like the commute. The murder rate here is comparable to most areas with the a similar amount of people.
