Silverlake, LA?
What would you describe it like? Is it relatively attractive? Alot of gang activity present or no? And do you find the affordable apartments ok? There seems to be alot suprisingly! But I wonder if it is all a scam. Beautiful affordable apartments that may possibly be surrounded by a bad neighborhood. I'm just not sure. First I was interested in San Bernardino (that was a bust), then I got interested in San Rafael (an extreme bust), and now my interest is back in the one place I tried to avoid trying to live in. It's just, I lost hope in trying to put plans to move to LA because of the high price of living. But I'm seeing more and more new ways I can adjust and settle down in a nice area here. I checked several different neighborhood/areas of LA that were affordable. I got some interest in Koreatown but later learned that some of the MS13 gang currently resides there. Which is so strange since it is called Koreatown. I naturally thought most of the population would be of asian descent. Whatever lol. So now I turned my head towards Silverlake which seems to be a pretty urban scene area. Lots of famous monuments. And I found alot of apartments that looked nice which were in my pricing range. So could anyone tell me what it's like and if you consider it a good place to start in LA as in apartment-wise, job-wise, and things of that nature? Thx

I'm not moving there yet. So I have no idea. I have several careers I can possibly go into. I haven't graduated high school yet. I'm asking all this for serious consideration when I finish college with my bachelors. I want to secure my future so I've been busy making plans on where I'm going to live, what I'm going to do by then, etc. But I really just want to know what Silverlake is like. I didn't really want to reveal so much information like what jobs do I plan to apply for. I mentioned "job-wise" as in pricing and diversity of jobs. I'll make a choice of what I want to be in the near future. When that happens, I'll apply for it near LA. Hope that answers your question! Now could someone please answer mine? Thx!

If you go into the hills and on the Glendale side where it's really artsy, it's very nice. It actually a hidden away little neighborhood. However, if you get too close to Sunset it's get very dirty, nasty and turns in to little TJ.

You certainly believe in planning ahead! This is a good way to be ahead of the game. I just wish my 27 year old son was more like you. He's living at home in limbo now, uncertain of which way he wants his life to go. I don't know much about Silverlake as I live at the far western end of the San Fernando Valley, but my daughter works near there and likes the area.

Lots of neighborhoods will change within the 5 1/2 years until you get your Bachelors.

Silverlake is a cool area of Los Angeles [with a funky type of resident often musicians & gays]. Close to downtown & Hollywood, Silverlake is warmer than beach cities but far cooler than nearby valleys.
