Default LA Chinese New Year Parade and Downtown Interactive Map

The Chinese New Years day parade will be held on February 24th in downtown Los Angeles (Chinatown) on Broadway Ave. (near Alpine St. if you are trying to find it in the Thomas Guide). The parade usually lasts a couple of hours and features entertainment of all sorts. There are even a brigade of bagpipe players!

We usually watch the parade and shop a bit then eat dinner. After the parade ends, the dragon/lion dancers go around from shop to shop to wish them good luck in the New Year. This is a lot of fun to watch! You can follow the dancers along with their entourage to the different shops. The shop owners feed the dragons and get good luck for the following year. If you don't get down to Chinatown very often, this is a great day to go! It's loads of fun!

Also, here is a link to an interactive map for downtown LA. This is the best map I've seen of the area. You can click on the various buildings and find out what they are.
