Try Craigslist and look in Culver City. It's the most reasonable on the West Side.

Actually, anything near Culver City's downtown will be pretty expensive. 2br, 1000 sq. ft. bungalows sharing a lot with another structure or a decent size apartment will run you close to $2000/month if not over. I would say you're looking at a $1500-2500 range for a 2br with $1500 being pretty scuzzy and $2500 being nice (dishwasher, washer/dryer, 1200+ sq. ft., parking, etc.). It gets cheaper if you're farther away from downtown in the fringes of Culver City. At that point, you might as well look at Mar Vista, Palms, and just east of La Cienega for better deals, b/c you won't be walking to downtown. In my experience, Culver City is the worst kept "secret" in the west side. You can rent a comparable place in Santa Monica for 10-20% more and be guaranteed a commercial district within spitting distance.

I agree with Cato. I'm not sure why people view Culver City as reasonable. I've never found it to be....certainly not in the most desirable areas.

Affordable is the relative term that seems to appear in all threads like this. Misty, what do you consider affordable?; i.e. how much can your monthly budget handle for rent?
