Carson, Juniper Serra (Private), Compton Centennial, Compton High, Dominguez, Long Beach Jordan, St. Bernard(Private), St. Mary(Private) Inglewood High School, Morningside High School, LACES, Westchester & Hamilton were all predominately Black when I attended & graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1994-1998.
I'm sure things have changed a bit but I believe Westchester and Hamilton are still mostly black and the private schools as well. Not sure about the other schools. Hope this helps.

Hawthorne, Washington, Locke, Gardena and Luezinger aka Lose a Finger as we called it back in 98 were all mostly Black in 1998...I'm not sure about them in 2008. I believe by now they are about even in Hispanic/Black pop or more Hispanic than Black.

You don't want to go to an all Black high school.
Locke, Crenshaw, Dorsey (3 that spring to mind ATM) have an abundance of students with acceptance of failure, stoic cynicism & unafraid of consequence.
Compton/Crenshaw have lost their accreditation, Locke is being managed by a charter company...you want to steer clear of these schools-we deal with the "students" from these schools at my school everyday.

I think Westchester and Crenshaw are the most African-American of the big high schools these days. Westchester probably gives a better education than Crenshaw. I'm pretty sure they're both more than half Af-Am.
One great school with a decent ratio of black students is LACES.
