Santa Barbara & Montecito [wasn't Heather Locklear held by police for driving problems a few days ago?]. Even Ojai Valley has ranches owned by stars.

Stars live all over but concentrated in the hills (i.e., south of Ventura blvd) in Studio City, Sherman Oaks and Encino. Calabasas and Malibu both have their fair share of celebs as well.

Toluca Lake, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Burbank are chock full.
Our last place in Sherman Oaks was five doors from a very well known singer and across the street from the Texas Chainsaw director.
In this town, running into a star isn't a huge deal - the best thing to do is leave them alone. We go to church with a handful of stars and we run into them all the time at the parks (esp if we trek to BH area on the back side of Sherman Oaks).
You also get used to filming all over the place in the valley. It's actually a freaking nuisance when the trailers are set up all over the place and there's no room for guests to park. They were shooting the NBC show "Life" at the Great Indoors a couple days ago in Burbank, there's an empty bank in Warner Center that perpetually has camera crews set up, and every weekend you'll see the signs with production company names or codewords for a given shoot. I could go on...
To answer your question directly, just click the link and scroll down. Some of these are studio addy's but many are real home addresses... found this by googling the singer's neighbor's name and our street name. Voila...

That is a real problem downtown on narrow city streets [I had no idea until I worked in LA - also lots of commercials are shot downtown

I caught a glimpse of a few stars around Westwood during premiere nights. Needless to say, they were walking the red carpet ...

They live everywhere. I know a lot are south of the Blvd right through Studio City, Sherman Oaks and Encino. Places like Augora Hills, Calabasas and 1000 Oaks are becoming popular. Then the usual areas in West LA, Bev Hills, Malibu ETC.
I think Sandra Bullock lives in Orange County somewhere and Larry Hagman (no longer A list) lives in Ojai.
