Default Cheap Rent

My friend wants to move with him to LA. He found some 1 bedroom apartments that were 500-600 a month one was downtown. I was wondering if them being that low means they are in a bad neigherhood or in bad shape and if I should ask about getting a more expensive apartment. The pictures of the inside looked okay. I do not mind if an apartment is not big I just want a clean one that is in a good area. thanks

Give us a fix on the location (cross streets are fine) and you will get good thematic feedback on the area.

Those areas are way too broad. Give some cross streets.

Even still... 600 in Hollywood or Downtown can't be good.

The one near Staples Center MIGHT be ok.. 600 in Hollywood I doubt would be good
You could do OK in Van Nuys area for under $800

Any apartment in DLA that is $600 will be on or near Skid Row. Or it's a room in someone else's apartment.

also, if walking distance to staples means its on the west side of the 110, its most likely not good

Merino1437 is on a distinguished road
Most areas along the 110 aren't pretty.
