If you don't like it, hike it. I'm still waiting for you to actually move like you've been promising to do ...

Don't concern yourself with my plans. I'll be moving when I'm prepared.

Perfect? I think your stretching it a wee bit, don't you think?...I mean alot of people couldn't count the numerous other problems CA has. CA isn't just the paradise beaches and hollywood hills everyone expects. That's what I learned real quick from being on here.
And anyway, the beautiful high life image you can find anywhere. Are you telling New York City is not prominent with that? Atlanta? Miami? And there's mansions in every city. You could live the 'high' life anywhere you go in the U.S. You just have to have alot of money.

Well I guess if someone lives within 5 miles of the coast and thinks mild weather is the only thing that a region should be judged on, then its paradise. If you look at the overall picture of life in California, it leaves a lot to be desired and its not heading in the right direction.

I have been following this thread for some time. It's funny to me that some people think California is perfect, and anyone else who doesn't must be a redneck or jealous.
A lot of people would rather live in some place where mortgage/rent costs aren't through the roof, where there isn't a constant threat of a devastating earthquake, where there isn't a threat of landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and sinkholes every time it rains, or where there isn't a threat of a wildfire burning down your overpriced house after 6 months without a drop of rain.
Sure, many around the country find the climate of coastal Southern California to be nice, as well as the proximity to the ocean. However, there are plenty of people who do not want to live near the ocean or who like variation in the weather. Then there are others who would live there if not for the extreme natural disaster risk and the price. Some of you might say they are jealous, others might say that they have sense.

I have never understood why people get so offended when people leave California. Its their choice and if they don't like a place, they have every right to move. I am happy here, but I understand the concerns of people that leave and don't get angry at them for leaving. It is rude to say people are rednecks that leave and it is rude to say people are stupid that stay. Just let people choose where they want to live and be happy.

I was born and raised in Baldwin Park. When I was 24, I moved to Albuquerque. I've been to Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Denver, and a whole slew of other states that don't care to mention. Albuquerque is OK, but I don't want to stay here longer than I have to. I really love Dallas, but that summer weather is too much.
I left California because I had grown tired of it. Crowds, traffic, high cost. At least, that's what I thought. Now that I've lived here for a few years, I realized I was under that "the grass is greener on the other side" mentality. If I could do things differently, I never would have left.
With any luck I can move back there in about 10 years!
By the way, I'm not going to pick on "quality of life" like some others are. My life wasn't that sh--ty that I felt I had to leave. The state itself isn't responsible for the choices you make. You are mostly responsible for YOUR quality of life. If you can't afford to live in CA, you don't have to stay cemented in CA. But don't blame the state for your inability to purchase a 500,000.00 home. If paying 1,300 a month on rent and can't afford to put food on the table, that's not California's fault. You can find cheaper rent in nice areas of the state. You just have to look. There are plenty of small towns all over Ventura County, SLO County, and Santa Barbara County just to name a few. If you moved to cold San Francisco from Phoenix and hate the weather, move to Barstow or Baker. California is a big place and you can have a decent life. If you choose not to stay, that's fine too. I personally don't blame Albuquerque for it's lack of things to do and desert climate. That would be stupid.

WOW that was RUDE!!! and by the way, not eveyone who is fed up with CA is a redneck uneducated conservative. and BTW sorry but most conservatives are more educated than liberals. most liberals are "liberal" if you will, because they want the government to be their DADDY. OC is the most conservative place in CA and I highly doubt with all the money in that community they are uneducated.
