That ticks me off -- New York sucks compared to Los Angeles, we have way more culture than they do. It's not even close. They have the business, I'll give them that. We have the entertainment and culture.

Default Very cool!

Maybe that will calm down some of the LA haters (yeah sure). I love LA/LB/OC.

Most of these so-called "global" cities have the allegedly affluent masses living in ratholes (often w/o modern HVAC) and riding mass transit to their offices or cubicles....NYC is US' closest version of these 3rdWorld EU/Asian hellholes....

LA is so much more civilized a place to live/work/play than any of the other towns on list....

SiliconValley (not SF) and Manhattan (not those other boroughs) prob rival each other for greatest nos. of really smart people....but lots of these towns in EU/Asia are simply laughable...anyone w/a 3-digit IQ migrates to US for grad school and their career....and never goes back to the 3rdWorld unless deported from US....

I'm one of LA's biggest supporters, but I have to disagree with this statement. I believe that LA's lack of the mass transit and car-only culture is one of biggest factors holding it back from being higher in the list.

A truer ranking in my book would place LA at 3rd or maybe 4th(Paris and LA are hard to choose from).

Everytime I see ranking of 'Global Cities', I get weary of the generalizations. It seems that the Financial World exaggerates its importance and after the bailout, we now see that industry for the farce that it is.

Los Angeles' noteriety on a global scale is surpassed by perhaps NY and London. Maybe LA is tied with Paris and Tokyo.
