Summer swimming is comfortable once the water temp reaches 70F & the need for wetsuits isn't as common. But winter surf temps are cold [barely 60F or cooler] & last into late spring
I body surf all summer but by next month it will be too cold. Santa Monica bay ocean temp was 67F today.

It is also clear, sort of a pastel green; rather than the brownish green of the Atlantic. Very pretty.

The only time I've ever worn gloves was when I'd ride my bike in the early mornings in winter and the wind chill would get to my hands. And I've never in my life entertained the idea of a scarf.

I body surf all summer but by next month it will be too cold. Santa Monica bay ocean temp was 67F today.
