hello i am looking to move to southern california. I want to live near a beach, but I also want to be not too far from a major city and near great nightlife. Can someone please narrow it down what city of southern cali would be good? Thanks in advance.

i don't have any "idea's." i might, however, have some suggestions, if you could be more specific. you seemingly don't understand how large an area "southern california" encompasses.

Near a Beach - Okay, we've got southern California which could be Santa Barbara all the way down to San Diego which is a few hundred miles. Do you surf?
Not too far from major city - what do you mean by this?
Nightlife - Do you mean clubs, bars, singles, live music, theater?
I think thats what katenik means by being a bit more specific. Have you been to southern california before? If so, what part?

Hi, what is your housing budget? What is your line of work? Do you have a family or are you single? There are dozens (conservative estimate) of cities which could fit your initial description, but if you answer the above questions, the situation will become clearer. Each city is different and suits a different demographic.
