I think Pico Rivera was the first city in LA this year to start giving fines to parents of children caught for spray painting property. I recall it had much to do with an incident less than a year ago of a elderly woman who tried to stop two teens from spray painting property and they pulled out a gun and killed her. There's also a recent report from the pasadena star news in which two gang members were shot and killed in separate incidents on the same day in Pico Rivera just two weeks ago. There's another report last month which says a gang member has been convicted of murdering a rival in Pico Rivera in a gang ambush last year in which they had also kidnap the decease's girlfriend to find him. None the less it is probably safer than Compton if that's your benchmark.

I was watching Mind of Mencia the other day and he went to Pico Rivera and he was saying it is a dangerous place where you can get shot.

Ghetto? No, PR is much more of a family oriented area then a decaying ghetto. Just cause it is heavily hispanic in proportions to population doesn't make it a ghetto.

Working class Hispanic neighborhood sums it up best. Its blue collar, but I wouldnt call it "ghetto".
Most of the people saying how terrible it is are the same people who's heart breaks a little everytime they drive down a street and see a few more Mexicans than white people.

Pico and Rivera are old railroad towns which joined together in 1958.

I worked there for a few months last year and most of the people were friendly. Even most of the "homeboys" were cool with me but it's so predominantly hispanic and seem so immersed in Mexican culture that I couldn't live there since my wife is black.
