Default Ok how about Irvine to Hollywood??

So I asked you guys last week about a commute from Bakersfield to Bevery Hills and needless to say not one person said go for it. Anyways my question to you all now is how awful will it be to commute from Irvine to Hollywood for about 6 months? Is this doable? I would need to be to work at 9 am and was thinking that if I leave by 6 am I am ok? I will be working overtime so the drive home wont be at 6 pm and therefore should be a little better.. Any thoughts? THANKS!!!

That is a bad bad commute and will not be fun. To do that drive everyday literally would tug and tug at your soul and probably make you depressed to be honest. One potential aspect you could do is ride Metrolink from Irvine to Downtown Los Angeles (1 hour ride) and then connect to the Red Line subway to Hollywood (20 minute ride). I'm not sure which part of Hollywood you need to commute to though, but that might be an option.

Either way, it isn't great. Is there a reason you must live so far away from Hollywood???

You have a real penchant for pain... why not live in Los Feliz or Silver Lake? What does Irvine have that make the drive worth it?

is this still about your dream job? is a job that requires this kind of a commute, and for which you are unwilling to relocate near, really such a dream?

Sounds like a horrible six months. Irvine to Hollywood and overtime?? what a way to live 6 months; no wonder time flies much faster once your old. So why isn't the possibility of a studio in hollywood or near hollywood an option?

Irvine is clean and sanitary, it's devoid of any sort of culture, life or grit. It's perfect!

I wouldn't want to go from that to the middle of Hollywood.

The drive is very doable but prepare to spend about 1hr30min to 2hrs one-way at the times you are providing.

Luckily, I drive the other way in the morning and the afternoon. I'm coasting along while the other side is practically a parking lot.

Just find a place in L.A. you will be much happier, especially if you don't get your promotion in 6 months.
