Why do you want to go to Compton? I'm sure it's safe during the daytime as long as you are remotely smart about it... but it's probably pretty boring too.

imho, the best part about compton are the "I 'heart' Compton" billboards along the 91 freeway. other than that, compton is largely industrial with older single family homes and some housing projects. it's not somewhere with really anything interesting to see.

Seriously, tourists in this regard are just kinda dumb. I know we aren't supposed to throw out personal insults, but this sort of thing is ridiculous.

All that will happen is you will see a mostly run down area...maybe a little depressing depending on which area you go to.

You'll be bored. It's quiet and there's nothing good to see there.

You can't really label a whole city as being violent. There are plenty of communities in Compton that are quiet. Also, I don't think main streets are all that dangerous in L.A. It's residential streets and projects that are more dangerous where certain gangs run the whole block.

There are already multiple threads on Compton; I'd suggest you take a look at them for more details.

I don't fault anyone for wanting to see the many different areas of LA, including off the beaten tourist path, but I don't understand all this fascination with Compton in particular; it's an actual city with real people, and I'm sure they get annoyed with the many people who seem to want to visit there just so they can have bragging rights that they visited Compton when they go back home.
