it's a shame...the scumbag element really puts a damper on an otherwise great city (minus horrific traffic and high rental prices)

I live in Palms but it depends on what you like. Palms is relatively safe, great weather, centrally located to B Hills, S Monica, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Hollywood and downtown.
These are the pros. The cons are Palms itself has nothing to offer. The intersection of Vinton/Venice is pretty bad. Suggest takiing a mile walk down Venice blvd in either direction. Many Mexican, Brazilian, and Mideastern moving in the area. Many Mexican people selling everything from clothes to fruit along Venice Blvd. Area seems to be getting worse every year. Absolutely no bars or nightlife worth mention. Culver City downtown has come of age but unfortunately they cater strictly to the Sony corporate enterainment crowd with outrageous prices. No middle ground in this area. You have the ghetto along Venice blvd or the outrageously expensive a block away in downtown Culver City.
