You can check the dates of quakes here. Most, but not all, happen in the fall and winter, and remember, fall and winter in the southern Hemisphere is from March 21st to Sept. 21st.

US quakes. Most are in the fall and winter, like it or not.

Strange, I see them occurring during all different times of the year (including spring and summer).

As stated, I've been reading about and studying earthquakes since the mid-'70s and I never heard the term "earthquake season." Not in any books I've read nor in the college courses I took.

Again, after reading through the chart, I don't see where "most" happen in the fall or winter. I see plenty in the spring and summer.

Again, here's the tectonic reality chart for our area. Check daily. Recent Earthquakes in California and Nevada - Index Map

Eh, fastfilm, you're around the third or fourth person, including myself, to post that link to recent earthquakes in CA/NV. But regrettably the link seems to have been rendered useless ever since this thread came down with some kind of tropical fever or earthquake seasonal affective disorder.

Read my earthquake prediction record. I'm unstoppable.

Oh, and;

San Fran. Oct. 1989 - 7.1

Northridge. Jan. 1994 - 6.7

Hector Mine. Oct. 1999 - 7.1

San Simeon. Dec. 2003 - 6.5

See a pattern?

Every 5 years in the fall or winter. Earthquake season.

It's winter, and it's 2008 - the fifth year since the last 6 plus EaRtHqUaKe.

Looks like a 7 plus is in order.

Smartypants, you forgot one: June 28, 1992. LOCATION: 8 km (5 miles) SE of Big Bear Lake. MAGNITUDE: 6.4.

By George, I think there IS a pattern: California has earthquakes!

Oh. I missed it. Winter ends on March 21. If it the earth don't quake before than, fall begins on Sept. 21.

Big Bear was an aftershock of the 7.3 Landers quake.
