This economy is really hitting hard at some middle class families. Here is an article in the Daily News:

People can't find enough to eat, yet I collect $50K - $100K per day for people to take 12 - 14 cruises

your tag raises a question: is a family that needs this kind of assistance to put food on the table really middle-class? i think LA is full of poor people who think they are middle-class.

this is what happens to many of those people we advise against moving here and trying to raise a family on $50K a year. that is NOT a middle-class income in southern CA.

Absolutely, which is crazy when you see people try it. Honestly, can a family be raised middle-class on 50,000 in NYC or Chicago either? I just don't get why people would move here taking such a big chance with their family.

no, that is small town middle-class. when your rent is $450/month or your mortgage is under $1000, you can raise a couple kids on $50K a year. in LA or any major city, it's head-above-water money...barely.
