Hispanic is a derivation from Spanish, ok, but hispanic is also used as the english world of Latino, I think hispanic means from Mexico or Central, South America and Spanish, from Spain, the "mother european country" of all this latinos countries in the Americas.

Many people think Pe is "latina" (mexican), and dont know she is not another Shakira or Salma Hayek crossbordering, is an european actress with sucess and good payment there who came here to make herself as much famous and rich as she could, obviously she get it.

Yes, but the US government would not consider Penelope to be "Hispanic", as she is a Southern European not a Latin American. They would consider her to be "Non-Latina White".

I know it makes no sense, but racial classifications usually don't make any sense. And not just the US racial classifications.

Penelope Cruz is non latina white, cos she is from Europe, and I cant assure you that people im biggest metro spanish areas as Madrid or Barcelona, also suffer from illegal latin migration and have now serious problems in some areas infected with aliens, if you talk an Spanish from Spain that is similar to a mexican or colombian he probably will kick your ass!!!

Spain does have some very serious immigration problems but aren't their problems related more to Muslim immigrants from Morocco and Algeria? At least that's what one hears about much more.

Just to make this somehow relevant to LA, for all of our ethnic problems it is remarkable that Jews and Muslims or Hindus and Muslims actually manage to get along here unlike so many other places in the world
