Yes. Point is, things change. Drastically.

well, basically i have two life routes right now:

1)go to Cuesta Community College and then transfer after my two years to UC Santa Barbara and get my masters in Enviromental Studies and Planning. Then get a city planning job in San Luis Obispo, Ca.

2)go to California State Univeristy Northridge and get bachelors in Urban Planning and Urban Studies. Then get a city planning job in Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Camarillo, or Moorpark.

I have also applied at San Jose State, San Francisco State, Cal Poly Pomona, and San Diego State. I can probably go to CSUN, SJSU, or SFSU. If the economy wasn't so horrible I would have been able to make it into Cal Poly Pomona. If the CSU Geographic Bond is passed, then i will be able to make it into San Luis Obispo.

Try not to set anything in stone. You could go to college and find out you don't want be a city planner. Leave yourself open to other possibilities. That's at least half of what college is about.

You don't get it though. Since I was a freshmen I have wanted to be a retail developer or a city planner. I have always hated living in the country-side, and I have always wanted my parents to return to Oxnard, Ca (where i was born) and be in an area where more entertainment was going on. Then during my sophomore and junior years I had these dreams of one day this country-side would be paved over, and there would be a mall that my friends and I could hang out at. Obviously, that dream of mine never came true, but I still learned alot and realized San Luis Obispo is still an ex-urb and we do have our downtown shopping streets and the outlet mall and an arcade and a water park.

calabasasgirl is on a distinguished road
I was born and raised in Calabasas and I LOVE it there. It was a great place to grow up and was very very safe. However, my parents made $180-200K each and most of the people who live there make that and much more. I don't know how much you could get with your salary. I go to USC now but when I get married and have kids Calabasas would be my #1 choice.

LOL; I think this pretty much sums things up and should answer the original question.

Yeah, but most of the people that talk about having $150K have nice houses and what not. I am planning on getting a small condo for $250K.

Just out of curiosity, is there any possibility that you could marry a guy who makes $87K a year?

I'm just saying that a lot changes between 14 and 25. Its not uncommon for high school kids to think they have all the answers and know what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Its equally common for all that to change by the end of college, then change again a couple more times before retirement. Most people with college degrees aren't even working in a field related to their degrees. That's true for my wife and I and most of the people we know. If you put blinders on at 17, you're going to potentially miss other good opportunities.
