Default Question requarding safety in some regions...

Hi, I am actually a Canadian who will actually be visiting tourist sometime in July at the Stovall's Inn at 1110 W Katella in Long Beach/Anaheim and have SEVERAL QUESTIONS about some areas during the day and night where we may do bus transfer etc.. Is it safe to walk around this hotel and around (outside the property) of Disneyland ?

According to Google Transit, it says I need to do a transfer just directly S of Cal State University at the link below. Is it safe to wait for a transfer/shop at nearby business at/near this location ?
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&saddr...h&z=12&start=0

Is it safe to wait at the Metro Blue Lines Transit Mall, 1 and 5 Street Stations as well as it being safe being on the train between these stations and downtown LA?

Finally we may be going to the Jay Leno show and take a studio tour of the Warner Brothers Studio. Is safe to wait/be on transit from the North Hollywood station to these locations?

Thank you all for your time as my mother thinks that these locations might become dangerous. Again thank you to all!

I've never had any issues at a metro station.

I heard from Wikipedia that the Blue line goes through several known gang neighborhoods. If you are on the train going from long beach to downtown LA, you will still be safe on the train right ?

I would just like to repost these questions because I would like a answer to them:

1. We may be going to the Jay Leno show and take a studio tour of the Warner Brothers Studio. Is safe to wait/be on transit from the North Hollywood station to these locations?

2. According to Google Transit, it says I need to do a transfer just directly S of Cal State University at the link below. Is it safe to wait for a transfer/shop at nearby business at/near this location at the Google link below?

[url="http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&saddr=1110+W+Katella+Ave,+Anaheim,+Orange ,+California+92802,+United+States&daddr=1st+Street +(LACMTA+++station)&hl=en&geocode=%3BFYRDAwIdWpL0-CEehy_XsfAWbA&mra=pe&mrcr=0&dirflg=r&date=08%2F12% 2F01&time=06:47&ttype=dep&noexp=0&noal=0&sort=&sll =33.785762,-118.057062&sspn=0.198313,0.44632&ie=UTF8&ll=33.785 71,-118.059082&spn=0.198313,0.44632&t=h&z=12&start=0[/URL]

Thanks all again for answering these questions !

its safe. ive gotten off at the anaheim blue line station and walked north for about 5 blocks. the most dangerous thing there is traffic. i ride the blue line daily and i see many many tourists on it. foreign and domestic.

dont worry. its not as bad as people think.
but by all means wear your "urban savy" cap (usually referred to as your "thinking cap").

always be aware of your surroundings. if you sense danger, stand next to old people and women with children.

as for the red line. you transfer underground and there is always metro police and sheriffs under ground, on the trains, and on the platforms. your transfer should go smoothly at 7th street/metro. again the only danger here is traffic, foot traffic that is. some people RUN to make their connections.

youll be fine.

Thank you 'the one.' I might be dragging this issue but I am assuming the area around Cal State at E 7 St is safe as as well for my bus transfer?

Thanks To All for your time and apologize if I have become a nuisance around here, but thanks to all for your time.

Steve,

The place you will transfer at near CSULB is very safe. There will probably be many students from the University waiting there with you. It is across the street from University and the VA hospital. The street is very busy, but the neighborhood is fine.

Also, the Blue line does take you through Compton and Watts en route to downtown L.A. Honestly, I have made that trip hundreds of times and never had any problems. For a tourist like yourself you may actually enjoy the ride. You can see the Watts towers from the window of the train. Just be smart and remember the people on the train are not there because they want to rob. They are just trying to get where they are going in one piece, just like you.

You'll be fine.

do be careful at night though. a few years back someone peaked over a backyard wall on 7th near pch and shot and killed a kid on leave from iraq in his own backyard. as you head west on 7th it gets grittier. not a gang infested territory, but less savory for sure.
