Default Why So Cheap

Why are these places so cheap? Are they a scam or in a terrible area? I am think about relocating to LA, I am single so if its not a great area thats okay.

Moderator cut: No direct links, please

5205 San Bernardino St, Montclair, CA -- $679/month
Sherman Oaks (studio sublease) -- $1,000/month
342 S. Euclid Ave. at Del Mar Blvd (Pasadena) -- $995/month
157 S. Catalina St (studio) -- $875/month

These are just a few. What other locations should I be looking for in around 1500 a mo range.

Thanks

Chris

One reason people ask "where will you be working" is that commuting can be a real issue. If you live far from where you'll be working, you may find yourself on the road for, literally, hours trying to get to/from work.

Of the apartments you listed, Montclair is the farthest away (+/- 30 miles); Pasadena is approximately 11 miles northeast of Los Angeles, and Sherman Oaks is approximately 16 miles northwest of Los Angeles. The S. Catalina Street apartment is in Los Angeles, in the neighborhood known as Koreatown. It has good and bad areas, but is seen overall as being "sketchy." (That said, I live not too far from there and haven't had any problems.)
