Long Beach
Currently I'm living in Mooresville, Indiana (a pretty redneck/scene kid neighbor). Nothing to amazing happens here, and actually the state at that. So I was seeking to move out to Whittier, CA but I was thinking of joining a Job Corps. The only one even remotely close I found is in Long Beach. I've heard some good and bad things about it. I believe it's in the 90810 zip code region. So if I could get reviews around the general area. That would be great! I'm kinda worried about crime rate since Mooresville has barely any if any at all actually. I know it won't be as bad as Compton. But I'm still nervous. If you know of a Job Corps in Central L.A or closer to Whittier that would be greatly appreciated to point that out too.
Thanks

Long Beach is great. General zip code recommendations:
90802 (downtown - urban)
90803 (coastal) belmont, naples, etc
90815 and 90807 - (suburbs) East LB and Bixby respectively

It's kind of in a industrial area of Long Beach close to Wilmington. It's Job corps. You're not far away from the toursity areas of Pine street. Ethier way it beats the mid west especially this time of year. As far crime. Just like any other major city. As long as your not trying to buy crack or engage in other illegal activities you should be okay. I'm sure the Job Corps people takes care of it's own. Oh yea! Don't walk around at 3 am by yourself looking like your from out of town and lost. You might get robbed. Just use common sense, and you'll have a unique experience.

Yeah I'm not into illegal activities actually. I don't even walk around by myself at 3am in my own town that I lived at for almost 15 years. So I think I should be good to go.

I know a couple people out there. Plus I've found some rather cheap apartments in the town.

I live in LB in zip code 90815. It's great, near Cal state great area.
However LB is real shaky in that one area is great the next block over is ghetto
