So what's the deal? NFL coming or not?
I've been hearing stuff going around, and something leading me to believe it's more than the usual rumors.
Is it just a rumor, or is there a concrete plan to bring an NFL team to LA?
Hearing it's going to be an expansion team that will play in the NFC division.

No cities here want to pay for a new stadium. The NFL does not want to play here without someone else footing the bill for a new stadium.
The NFL is stupid. This is a huge market. They could play in an existing stadium like the Coliseum or Anaheim Stadium and make a fortune by being in "L.A".

Our only hope might be Ed Roski who plans to build a 75,000 seat stadium in Industry if approved. He wants to build it entirely with private funds and is the same guy who built the Staples Center.
Los Angeles Stadium - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Los Angeles Stadium
I would imagine the economic recession will hurt these plans though. Three cities in the Industry area support the plan. City of Walnut does not.

Anaheim came forward about 2 years ago and offered land and public financing. The league ignored it in favor of another Rose Bowl/Coliseum plan.
They have since sold the land and it was developed into condos and shopping centers.
And Anaheim Stadium can no longer support pro football since it's remodeling.
As far as what teams, I think we'll see a team that will be sold eventually come here. The Bills, Saints, and Rams are probably the highest on the list given the status of ownership and/or relationship with their cities pertaining to stadium renovations.
And the Rosky plan is crap. The freeway system cannot handle the added burden in that area, it already is a nightmare on weekends as it is, and MNF or Thursday football would be impossible. Anaheim was the best option(the area has good freeway and rail access on top of having the space available at the time). After that, it falls off precipitously. Carson may be a decent option, and has been mentioned before. Downtown and Industry are both terrible options. Irwindale was brought up way back I believe, but access isn't much better than Industry

they been talkin about a new stadium, before the rams and raiders left. now some people want a team...
i beleive an LA team should have its stadium as close to downtown as possible. like staples.
of all the possible locations thrown out there, (over the many years) carson seems like the most viable option now.
forget anywhere in OC. i would not want to drive to OC, down the 5 or whatever for more than an hour. besides do we really need a "Los Angeles Celestials Of orange county"?
scratch "industry" for that same reason. (the being too far part)
lynwood? was that even a serious notion?
rose bowl. We would reduce whats left of that park to dust and rubble. let UCLA have their little games there. id rather maintain its integrity and legacy as the Rose bowl, not give it some face lift/restructuring.
the same goes for the coliseum, altho because of its proximity and accesibility, i might look the other way for some required rehabbing of the place.
carson might be the place. improve parking and movement in and out of there and you might have some thing going. NFL and MLS and Tennis and X games and a whole lot more. It might seem like a place to build a flashy new FB and sports center (while using limited tax payer moneey).
at the end of the day i think were just dreaming.
but who knows...

Yeah, I cringe too at the thought of a Los Angeles football team in Orange County.

With that huge population, L.A. is a goldmine. If I had the money I would build a new stadium, bring the rams back to L.A. and have luxury suties for the hollywood elite, which would include the likes of nicholson, magic, pitt, depp etc. I would also utilize strategic marketing to pack the place, like having the band with the number one hit perform at halftime haha.

The thing is, (and many of you long time Ram fans like me may remember this), the Rams almost never sold out in LA, and never that I can remember within the 72 hour blackout rule. I don't think I ever saw a Ram game on TV from the "mammoth" Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Raiders sold out I think a few times (I was at a Raider Bronco game for a 93000 sellout - Raiders lost in OT.)
