Default Palisades HS filling with people

http://www.palisadespost.com/content/index.cfm?Story_ID=2640 (broken link)

Out-of-zone people wishing to go to Palisades HS may need to scramble for submitting their applications!

Oh, and this shows that University HS, Webster MS, and Emerson MS need to go charter. Why? So they can take Palisades HS' and Revere MS' excess students.

Right now Palisades has to take some excess kids from some of those schools. Remember, though, that LAUSD is building more and more schools in order to relieve Palisades.

Oh, and LAUSD should consider cutting the size of Revere to about 1,600. 2,200, IMO, is too big for a middle school.

thats nothing, one particular local district that now has a AVIllar puppet has the most over crowded elementary and middle school in the country. a middle school with about 4 thousand kids, possibly more on 4 tracks and kids learning in shifts. go in at noon get out at 6!!! thats bad. but im sure i would love to get bussed into palisades.

I heard Westchester is going charter soon. I think Wright, University, and Emerson should go charter too

Also new high schools should be built to serve Encino, Tarzana, and Sherman Oaks. New middle schools should be built to serve Valley Glen and Reseda.

Nothing new. Pali has had kids bused in from elsewhere for years.
If attendance at Pali was limited to those who live in the Palisades and Northwest Brentwood, it would have closed long ago and LAUSD would have sold the grounds of the school to the Church of Scientology.

Yes, Palisades acts as a "magnet" for people who want to attend a school other than their home schools.

Anyhow, with less forced transfers due to new school openings, Palisades will get people who want to go to Palisades. This will make the situation much better.

wont happen. they will build the schools were they are needed first. where it is more dense. where there is more over crowding.

What do you mean? By building a high school in Sherman Oaks it relieves the schools in the burgeoning Van Nuys and Valley Glen areas.

By building a high school in Tarzana or Encino it relieves the high schools in Reseda, Lake Balboa, and Woodland Hills.

Likewise, by building a middle school in Reseda it relieves the middle schools in Northridge, Lake Balboa, Tarzana, and Winnetka. (That's right - Reseda has no public middle schools)

By building a middle school in Valley Glen it relieves the middle schools in Sherman Oaks and North Hollywood.
