As far as the valley goes, even the bad parts of North Hollywood are pretty safe compared to other parts of the valley like San Fernando, Sylmar, Sunvalley, Sunland, and parts of Canoga Park/North Hills.. There are definately some gangs in NoHo but usually they just mess with eachother and not with you.. I mean try to find the best area you can, but don't worry too much, you should be just fine..
