awesome, only 6 years until we get to start using the benefits of prop R I hope all the future elected officials of LA can speed the process up. 2032 for a subway to Westwood, that is 23 years from now, you've got to be kidding me!!!???!?!?!!?
after looking at the mta's report, it appears that they are giving priority to most of the highway projects, which is probably why the rail dates are pushed so far back. with all the bond money due to come in along with the potential fed match (especially considering that obama is pro transit), hopefully the high priority rail projects can be shuffled in at the top of the list.

Just think about how much more pleasant life in L.A. could be if it wasn't such a hassle to get around town. It would do wonders for the L.A. economy as well.

Only 30 more years of the 405 being mostly as it is today. What a deal.

Villaraigosa legacy could be getting these projects going ASAP. Though current nation-wide recession doesn't bode well. If Obama wants to put people back to work, constructing these train lines would bring lots of employment & make Los Angeles much more livable.

These projects take an enormous amount of time but if its going to be built it has to be done right. Amazing that nobody knows the history of the red line and how it was almost never finished in the '80s. It was finally opened in 1994 and just imagine if it wasn't around today because of ppl who don't want to invest and plan ahead for tomorrow. May I remind you that in 1994 the northridge earthquake occured and what was built of the red line was minimally damaged. Look up the LA red line on Youtube and you'll see. Hey! if it means ill be in my 50's when its complete what's above then so be it but we need to do it now because we will eventually end up with nothing. Just imagine LA 2040 and the gold line finished along with expo and maybe with the extension to Century city and that's it... because we kept ignoring the issue OR, have it built quickly and be vulnerable to earthquakes and less efficient in general. ?? Heck! the SFV would have light rail today if wasn't voted against by its communities in the early '00.

The good news is that, apparently, these timelines are based solely on revenue from Measure R. If state and federal money is added to fund these projects (a likely probability), then they'll be finished much faster.
