I just visited my parents in Chattanooga, TN and there are quite a few from california now living there it seems...I met 5 people in just a few days walking around downtown. I must say, that is a nice little town.

We are planning on moving to Tennessee (Nashville). LA is a hell hole.

Black Angelinos anyways,
-Suburbia (Riverside and San Bernandino Counties, but also LA County locales; Lancaster and Palmdale)
-Arizona
-Nevada
-The Greater Southern nexus, with Atlanta being the capital.

You'll find a lot of ex-Southern Californians in Nashville. Nissan moved there a few years ago:

It really baffles me why Angelinos feel the need to bash their own city. Chicagoans, New Yorkers, San Franciscans, Clevelanders, etc. always defend their cities, but Angelinos are many times overly critical of their city. I don't get it.

Being from there, I would say it is because their is very little sense of community in LA, generally speaking.

I'd probably be wrong (typical), but I'd argue that LA seems to have a lot more transplants than places like NYC, Chicago and Cleveland. Doesn't help that Greater LA is as sprawled as it is, leaving people in places like Apple Valley, Temecula or Oxnard to say they're from "Los Angeles" when asked by outsiders where they live. Its ridiculously hard to find a sense of place or community when the metro area is as spread out as it is.

I imagine LA is a lot like Vegas. In general, because it's not always the case, people tend to keep to themselves and mind their own business. Unless you go out of your way you really could live somewhere for years without even knowing your next door neighbors first name- possibly last name.
