Santa Clarita
How is Santa Clarita? I have family in Dallas that want to move out there (I will have to ask why). They want to know if it is far from central Los Angeles. My uncle just married his wife three years ago, and they have two kids (two and a few months old). I am not sure about their income, but they have a nice house here. Any suggestions from you all would help them, thanks!

Santa Clarita is it's own place, far from everything else. The people who love it usually do so because it's mostly white people and most of the houses were built since 1990. It's very hot in the summer and colder in the winter. It's very windy. People go there to get away from things they don't like about L.A. Good things in the area: Magic Mountain and Cal Arts. I'm not fond of it but some people are.

It's an hour and a half to central Los Angeles with traffic, forty five minutes without. It's hot in the summer, very dry, mid 90's, but cools to high 60's at night, and no bugs. The winter nights get down to mid 30's, but reach mid 60's during the winter days. Expensive area, mostly white, but many Latinos in Newhall and Valencia. Magic Mountain a huge theme park. Very developed over the past 15 years, alot of cookie cutter homes, alot of GREAT AND VERY NICE housing communities. It looks a little like the nice areas of suburbia Dallas, but a tad bit more rural.
Hope that helps!

mostly white, mostly middle-up income, but many latinos, in old areas of Valencia and Newhall, many jams!! beautiful californian landscape, very desirable views to the mountains, traffic!!! Very close to the city of Los Angeles (SFV) not to Central LA, jams!!!
Its ok, if you work in north San Fernando Valley, but if you work in Downtown, Hollywood, the Westside or even Ventura Corridor, Burbank or Pasadena conmuting is difficult.
Some new areas are as Wisteria Lane.

To be honest, if you are going to move to santa clarita, might as well not move down here. It is a lack luster suburb that is bested by Sacramento, Austin, Greenville, Boise, etc. It has none of the benefits of LA and many of the disadvantages. If they are moving to Santa Clarita to avoid LA's negatives they might as well go to Sac or something. THat is of course unless they are making 200,000+
THere are PLENTY of white people and nice houses all over the US. I will say, the weather is somewhat better than Texas I suppose.
Just my opinion.
Where are they going to work?
Why do they want to move to Socal?
Why in socal did they choose santa clarita?
If they have work in santa clarita is at least VERY high paying?

She is into Real Estate, and he is a doctor (I think he is looking for positions down there)
They want a change of scenery. We have family down there already, but they stay in Perris and areas around the Inland Empire. Many cousins in Ontario, and some in Irvine. We have all been to Santa Clarita before (Magic Mountain), and they liked the scenery there. They fell in love with that place right then (was last summer).
Not sure about their salary, but they can afford anything under $650,000.
Also, how are Blacks viewed there? They are Black, and I hope there isn't any racism over there.

I was just having a conversation with a friend of mine last week who grew up in Newhall (which she calls Newhell) and now lives in Hollywood. Her take is that the area is about white people who want to live around white people and moved there to get away from "them" (meaning other races). She reports less racial tolerance than other areas. This is just one opinion, thought I'd share.

Sounds no different than a lot of suburbs. Are there a lot of hate crimes reported there?

That's true. Regarding hate crimes, she never mentioned any.

this is what I dont get. If you want to get AWAY from minorities, LEAVE CA!!! Missippi (on the other side of the tracks), Idaho, Colorado, and Utah would be glad to have you.
Anyhow, the Original Poster did not say any of this, and this is not meant to be a response to the OP. I think there are better All white neighborhoods that offer a change of scenery. Why not the suburbs of Seattle, Boston, or Connecticut. OR maybe west palm beach or something?
Also, if you REALLY want Santa Clarita, why not marin county, palo alto, far east bay like pleasant hill, walnut creek, pleasanton, danville, or perhaps palo alto? Those are VERY nice, white, a quiet communities.
I think those areas in northern ca are much better than santa clarita.
