Hey Adam. Glad to hear you scored a sub-lease in Larchmont Village. That's one I left out because there are so many neighborhoods. You chose very well. This is right in the middle of LA and near Hancock Park which is one of the most desirebale areas of LA. Actually, I lived very near Larchmond for about 6 months and loved it. Unfortunately my office moved to Huntington Beach and I had to leave. Larchmond is a really cool little residential area and Larchmont ave is filled with really neat little shops and restaurants. I consider it an oasis in the middle of the city. It is quite an expensive area though but you are near everything including the westside, downtown, Hollywood, Silverlake, Los Feliz, etc.

Good luck and hope you enjoy your new home.

Adam,

Forgot to mention that your story is much like mine. Came out from Canton, Ohio in 1980 and drove with a trailer behind my Ford Pinto. Came out with 600 bucks in my pocket, was working inside of 3 weeks and never looked back. I went to Kent State from 1972-1976 (Canton Campus) and went to work for a transporation company. They folded in 1980 and I ran for California not knowing what to expect like yourself. Just remember to drive around a lot, check the areas and you will eventually find a suitable area.
