Craigslist website: craigslist: los angeles classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events

BEFORE renting, be safe. Check out where the sex offenders are also living. Make an informed decision. You'll be in a new land, wide-eyed, and awe struck. California Megan's Law - California Department of Justice - Office of the Attorney General . Once on the Attorney General's website, you can do a search for the city, zip code, or address to find out where they're lurking.

Also, go to the Los Angeles Police Department website (official website of THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT) and look at the maps and crime stats. Don't let yourself become a victim!

Once here and you want to do some sightseeing, check out the California Tourism website (California Vacation, Travel, Tourism, Visit California - California Travel and Tourism Commission) for ideas. If you want to fly from L.A. to San Francisco or Las Vegas, be sure to check out Southwest Airlines (Southwest Airlines). They usually have great deals (ranging from $39 to $99 each way). Travelocity (www.travelocity.com)or Expedia (www.expedia.com) are also good options. Hotwire (Hotwire.com: Discount airfare, hotel reservations, car rentals, vacation packages and cruises) is a good option for hotel deals.

If you're going to be here that length of time, you might want to consider getting a Costco membership (Costco.com: Offering thousands of items you won̢۪t find in your local Costco.). Many of the Costco locations also have a gas station which sells gasoline for $.05 to $.20 per gallon cheaper than the gas stations in town. They also have electronics, food, etc. In the warehouse, they also sell many of the tourist attraction tickets at a good discount (they sell Disneyland, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, etc). Membership is about $50 for a year.

Also, you might want to join the Automobile Club of Southern California (Javascript Enablement Required - AAA). For the annual fee, they offer roadside assistance (they'll bring you a couple of gallons of gas should you run out, change your flat tire, jump start your battery, they have tons of maps and destination books, will map driving directions for you, they also sell tourist attraction tickets at a discount, can make travel arrangements for you, etc).

Anyway, safe journey.

Stay safe.

Thanks a lot - am looking for a apartment in Monterey Park (91755) area - Craig's list does not give much scope in this area. Is there any other site/blog where i can find advertisements.

Would be grateful if someone could inform me on some economic hotels/inns etc in this area. Pls advise as am very anxious having heard about premier soccer fans warning on sex offenders .

Here's a link to the City of Monterey Park. Zip Code: 91754. City of Monterey Park : Homepage

Monterey Park has its own police department. Check the website for crime stats and maybe contact them for further information. City of Monterey Park : Police Department

Here's a link to [domain blocked due to spam] (they compile news, etc from sources on the web and put it on their website). Monterey Park News - [domain blocked due to spam]

Regarding rentals:
1) contact a realtor in that area (looked like there was a possible link on the [domain blocked due to spam] website). They usually handle rentals in addition to sales.
2) here's a link to a los angeles newspaper. check the classified section. Home - LA Daily News

My intention is not to scare you, but to give you the information and make you an informed tourist.

Be safe and don't become a victim.
