Looking at a possible transfer to Westwood Village area and would like to find the best place to live within a 30 minute commute. I have a daughter going into fourth grade so schools are my primary concern. I'd prefer to move towards the ocean as opposed to further away. My budget for a two bedroom rental is around $1800 - $2000 so I'm not sure what that's going to get me. I would be willing to commute as much as an hour but that's my limit.

Also, how far is the drive (in minutes/hours) to Santa Monica beaches from Westwood Village?

you might be able to find something in Playa Del Rey. it's close to the beach and more affordable than Santa Monica, although further away and not as nice.
