Default Commute: Miracle Mile to Loyola Marymount?

I am looking at a move to LA this spring, for a job at Loyola Marymount (LMU). After much perusing of Craig's List and the various helpful threads in this forum, I think the Miracle Mile area would best suit my needs for a place to live (though I also like Los Feliz/Silverlake/Echo Park).

What kind of commute am I looking at from the Miracle Mile are to LMU? Both in terms of time and difficulty?

Thanks!

it's really not that far of a commute, but if you would be commuting during normal rush hours, it will be a long drive. with no traffic, it can probabe be done in 15-20 minutes. if you are driving between 7-9am it will probably be closer to 45 minutes, maybe longer. i think culver city or marina del rey might be better options for you.

Thanks BRinSM. I've looked at both MDR and Culver City. MDR is just too pricey for me. It would make a lot of sense, but I'm trying to find a 1BR for under $1500. I'm going to look more at Culver City. I wasn't that impressed with what I was seeing on Craig's list in terms of architectural style there, but I'll keep my eyes open. It certainly would be closer!

there isn't much architectural style on the westside as it was developed much after the more central areas of the city. if price is a concern for you though, you'll have to decide which is a higher priority for you. For me personally, location to work and neighborhood amenities far outweigh the look of my apartment building, but that's just me. You may also look into Palms, which is just north of Culver City. You'll definitely be able to find apartments in your price range in this area. If you like the beach, Playa Del Rey is also a nice little area and reasonably priced, but it's a bit removed from the rest of the city.
