Gemco, Fedco, and Zody's - as Californian as an orange grove back in the 70s. Gemco was apparently owned by Lucky, the supermarket chain, which was eventually bought out by Albertson's. I even remember the redheaded woman, Stephanie Edwards, who appeared in all their (Lucky's) TV commercials (she was also a frequent host of the Rose parade).

Get, not take. I remember getting Green Stamps at Fedco. I had to take them to the Green Stamp store (when I had enough) to redeem them.

I still have an ugly lamp I got with Green Stamps. I keep fantasizing that I'll sell it at a garage/yard sale some day!

I remember Fedco in I think it was either Panorama City or Van Nuys.

I remember the either Green Stamps or Blue Stamps store on (I think) Reseda just north of Roscoe. Probably around 1970.

The Fedco you remember was just off Sepulveda, south of the railroad tracks (and underpass), and about 1/4 mile south of Roscoe. I believe it was on Raymer St. and it was about 1-2 blocks east of Sepulveda.

I recall the Green Stamps store was on Van Nuys Blvd. but I could be wrong. Seems to me it was on VNBL just north of Roscoe, on the east side of VNBL, like next to Barker Bros. (?)

Maybe it was VNB, I was only about nine or so.

I also remember a Ron Parannoskis restaurant (Dodger player and coach) on Sepulveda just north of Roscoe; on the west side of one of those streets. I think Don Drysdale had a bar, the Dugout, on Oxnard Street in Van Nuys.

I'm pretty sure you're right about Drysdale and the Dugout. I used to live near there. I never went in.

As far as Fedco, I had just graduated college back then, back on my first job after graduation. I bought a lot of stuff for my first apartment from them.
