After reading a few threads on the hot scenes in LA for the young, young single crowd I thought I'd pose this question.
Where are the best areas in the greater LA area to live and/or work for fun and mingling with slightly older but still young crowd?

I'm a soon be to be 35 year-old heterosexual male just finishing residency and fellowship training. Looking at a few jobs around LA, but I'd like to live near where I plan to play, and I hope to live in an area where there's a fair number of later twenties-thirtysomething single women, (not college kids, not where everyone's married). I'll be making about 200k/year.

newport beach, long beach, signal hill, santa monica, marina del ray, etc. just look for the more expensive upscale areas with nightlife nearby. younger kids cant afford those areas(unless they're trustfund kiddies). at least thats what i would think
