Glendale is a nice city but I am not so sure about the high schools. I know there is a lot of fighting between Armenian and Mexican gangs at Hoover high school but am not sure about other high schools there.

That's why I mentioned Montrose.Their kids would be going to Crescenta valley High.

Travel to glendale down the 2 fwy would be 20 mins depending on where he/she works

Thanks for the quick responses. My kids are in the Elementary/pre-school age. Is there any local CA website I can look at for school rankings?
Thanx

La Crescenta, Montrose, La Canada. If you can afford it, move there. Nice neighborhoods with good schools.

If you have to live in Glendale, stay north of the 134 as much as possible, however, that doesn't alleviate the schools issue. Not that Glendale schools are bad, not at all, but CVHS and LCHS are much better.

Compared to LAUSD, Glendale schools are superb....

Put it this way. If I had kids and moved to L.A. and intended to put my kids in a public comprehensive high school I would NOT want to live in any LAUSD area, and that includes the "best" comprehensive high schools in LAUSD (El Camino being #1 and Venice being #2 according to Great Schools). And yes I realize LAUSD does contain good magnets and charters but the comprehensives are utterly atrocious. OTOH I would not think twice about putting my kids in a public school in Glendale.
