Looking southeast from the Santa Monica Mountains at the Pier and Santa Monica Beach.

Let me whip out google earth and do a tilt.

Almost looks like somewhere up above Topanga Canyon or above maybe Sunset Mesa or maybe above Tuna Canyon??

The center of the photo is Santa Monica Beach and above is Marina del Rey, Westchester, and LAX. Malibu is to the north (west).

From PCH take Topanga Cyn north until you are in the town of Topanga. Look for Entrada Rd on your rightside. Follow that road until you get to Topanga State Park (now you have to decide if you want to pay to park inside the State Park or park outside for free...up to you). Once you've decided on the parking situation, get a snack pack, good hiking shoes, and whatever you do DO NOT forget to take water with you. At the trailhead you will be able to read the trail name and where it will take you. I can't remember the name of the trail even though I've hiked it for pleasure and for training. Anyway, you will hike for about 1-1/2 mile and you should reach the end of the trail where you will be welcomed by a couple of wooden and concrete benches. Thats were the snack pack comes in handy. Sit for awhile, have lunch, enjoy the scene and get ready for the hike back to your vehicle.
(NOTE: if you start from Ventura Blvd. in the valley, take Topanga Cyn south and look for Entrada Rd on your left side. The rest is the same).
This hike is very well worth the time and effort.
