hey dudes me and my best mate want to move to LA from the uk. does anyone know how to do this?

ive spoken with the american embassy and they say i cant get a visa unless i get a job within the job catagories specified. none of which i think i fall into. now i do work for forensics in english police..so surely i can do a similar thing?

anyone got any ideas how i go about it? do i need to get a job before i get out there? or can i get a visa somehow without the job? i want to live perminantly so need an immigrant visa. there is so much info on the web and im a bit baffled by it all.

can anyone help?

thanks! helen x

But why LA? People in North Korea and Syria are nice too. It would be a change.

I am no expert on visas, but you might try to start with a student visa. I think they are easier to come by and you can try to find work once you get here. You sound young so this path might work for you.

North Korea?

What's with all of the questions? Either help or don't.

Come over for three months (no visa required).
Get married to an American citizen, go back to England get your visa.
Then move here to live.
If you can`t hang with that concept then you won`t like LA.
LA will not be the answer to your problems,if you have problems in the UK they will be a thousand times greater here.

I would think someone trying to enter this country legally and looking for employment would be taken with a bit more positive note.
