Why do you ask?

I would feel safe driving around Compton at night(I have before). Just mind your own business and you'll be fine.
Theres also some gentrification taking place in Compton so not all areas are as bad as one may think.

I have actually wondered if Compton/South LA was safe. If you all say its safe then I will go on your word. I will probably never go to California but If I do I would like the ability of having free range and not worry.

compton is safer than it once was. the good thing is that crime isnt so random anymore. its more targetted. towards the thugs and gang bangers.

it is not as bad as all you chickens in the OC or ARK think it is. you guys have heard to many NWA songs.

its changing for the better. and it has some pretty nice areas. but at the end of the day those areas are still surrounded by not so nice areas.

either way you should be fine in compton at night or in the morning. just mind your B's.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, we owned our first home in Gardena, I know quite abit about the so and so east part of Los Angeles, safer than years ago, possibly but it Compton is still not a place to be after dark. I am not saying everyone in the area will get in trouble, of course that would be a stupid statement, but better to be safe than sorry..

I've driven through Compton many times at different times of day. It's not a place I recommend to go, but I'm pretty sure driving on main streets is fine. Getting out and going for a walk... probably wouldn't do that.

I wonder how many threads there are asking about "Compton" "South Central" "Gangs" "information for 'school projects'" "Whats (enter infamous housing project here)" "Can I wear Red or Blue in LA", etc etc.

It's crazy how much West Coast rap that fell off years ago, and all the movies of the 80-90s has left a lasting impression with so many people around the world.
