I think that Claremont is a fantastic area..it is by far my favorite city in the Inland Empire. Especially coming from the East Coast you will probably really enjoy Claremont. I am jealous of your budget because there are some fantastic! condos near The Village right in your price range. Here is a link to one of them . There are also some great homes.

625 Mckenna Avenue, Claremont, CA, 91711 - MLS ID#C09002341 - Rentals real estate - REALTOR.com®

Claremotn and Thousand Oaks are nice safe areas (although Claremont is surrounded by some riff raff [Pomona and La Verne, I'm looking at you]). However those are both FAR away from Downtown so if you work there it is quite a drive and they are in opposite directsion of each other. Pasadena, La Cresenta, Montrose are nice "middle class" areas but homes are still a little high. Pasadena is pretty nice although some parts are better than others. Do your research.

Yeah Pasadena definitely has good and bad. I'd try to stay south of the 210 if considering Pasadena.

But places like LaCrasenta, Montrose and some of those areas are a really long drive to Claremont, so is Pasadena for that matter..La Verne, by the way, is really very nice, depending on where you live..

This is true, but they are close to downtown, which is where I assume alot of people work and so that is where I base the commute time from. If some worked in Santa Monica, then living in Pasadena or Claremont or Thousand Oaks would be HORRIBLE.

you are right, in this case she has said she will be working in Claremont, so I just think there are lots of places she could choose that would be better. FOr anyone working downtown, Pasadena, LaCresanta/La Canada would be ideal..

the city will become famous soon enoughthe city will become famous soon enough
most of the urban areas in SoCal are bad. the urban areas have the gangs, smog, and traffic since there wasnt much planning at the time for the urban areas.

the suburban, ex-urban, and rural parts of so cal are good though. which the majority of so cal is suburbia and ex-urbia with urban patches.

MANY suburban and ex-urban parts of SoCal do have gang, smog, and traffic issues.

Familiar with the AV and IE at all?
