Both have amazing histories in Los Angeles, and in terms of sports popularity, they're the two top dogs of the Southland.

But which team are Angelenos generally more passionate about? Which team creates the most frenzy, passion, and excitement in Los Angeles?

If you were to pick one team and the other had to relocate, which team would you pick to keep in LA?

The Lakers create more frenzy probably because they have won a lot more championships than the Dodgers. The Dodgers have won only 1 championship since 1980? The Lakers have won how many since 1980? I think 8.

The Lakers

The Lakers are followed by people all over CAL and even out of state. The Dodgers are the heart of L.A. but you dont have people rooting for them in San Diego unlike the Lakers. Very tough decision though.

While I do like basketball more than baseball, I am much more partial to the Dodgers than the Lakers. There is just something magical to me about going to Dodger Stadium and rooting for the Blue. Ever since I was just a little kid, going to see the Dodgers play was much more exciting than going to see a Laker game. Sure when I was in elementary school, Magic, Worthy and Kareem were winning championships, but there is just something about the Dodgers that is more magical to me.

The fact that I hate Kobe Bryant helps my not to love my Lakers as much anymore (but I still root for them).

They're apples and oranges. You really can't pick unless you have a heavy preference for the respective sport. But I think most would think that the Dodgers have more history in LA. What I don't understand is how there can still be so many Raiders fans in LA. Ugh! Far more than the Rams I'd think.

The gang bangers and the latinos are keeping the Raider flame burning here in LA. The Silver and Black are the desired colors of your local cholos and gang bangy types.

Man, those are tough questions. Before Magic and Lew Alcindor (Kareem) I thought the Lakers were a little below the Dodgers. But, as others above mentioned, the Lakers won five championships in the 1980s and three in a row with Kobe.

The Dodgers won one in Brooklyn (1955), then in Los Angeles 59, 63, 65, 81, and 88.
The Lakers won five in Minneapolis, then 1972, + 5 + 3 = 14 total.

I am so loyal to both teams. I just can't answer the relo question. You could be pragmatic and say keep the Lakers because you'd still have the Angels (figuring the Clippers will never improve their organization).

My dad took me to Laker games in 1971 and 1972 when Wilt and West played. I remember getting Wilt's autograph after a game outside the "Fabulous Forum" around 1972.

Also, LA has been so fortuneate to have some of the all time greats behind the mike.

I will admit I am biased. I grew up on Lakers basketball. The epic battles with the Boston Celtics in the 1980s were some of the best sporting competition I have ever witnessed. I do respect the Dodgers. While I am not a baseball fan I have nothing but respect for Vin Sculley. But if I had to pick one there would be no constest.

I'm keeping Lakers basketball first. My second choice would actually be USC football.

I'd say Lakers...and I don't like either team. I can deal with Lakers..but not Dodgers
