Man, I used to listen to this stuff when I lived in Orange County.

Always entertaining.

Babbabooey.
Hell, I remember listening to Ricky Rackman and the Regular Guys WAAAAY back when the station first started as "Real Radio". I hated that they took the Regular Guys off the air for Tim Conway Jr. but was glad when Tom Leykis and Frosty Heidi and Frank came on board. Those two shows made my workday a little more bearable. I guess I'll just have to listen to nothing but my ipod from now on when I drive.

Radio is just reflecting the rapidly changing demographics of SoCal. Didn't SoCal lose its last country station within the last decade? How much longer until English language radio is a niche?

I remember when KLSX was a classic rock station, I have 3 of the CD's they put out.I used to like to listen to the regular guys before they got fired, Leykis was OK and Conway and Steckler were hilarious when they first started late at night and had zero censorship, boy did they suck after they were on for awhile. I never thought I would here the F word on free radio. I just listen to Sat radio and play my own cds now.

I'm listening to the final minutes of the last Leykis show but one (tomorrow 3:00-5:00 p.m. is the final show), but Tom has explained a lot more:

Talk radio is an expensive format. It's cheaper to hire no-name DJs who just push a button to play the song.

The economy has been slowing down and the company that owns KLSX (CBS Radio) has already cut all the costs they can cut. Since the economy is slowing down advertising revenue has also slowed down, and CBS has already laid off everybody they could lay off without pulling the plug.

There were no more corners to cut and revenue was down so they had to switch to a less costly format.

I'll tune in tomorrow between 3:00-5:00 just to hear the last of the best FM radio there is. I'll use my iPod after that...

KABC and KFI are political. KLSX isn't. I can't stand to listen to political talk radio because all the callers are either people who agree with me or people who never will.

At least with KLSX's format I could learn something, and I could be entertained. I used to get mad when I'd listen to Frosty, Heidi and Frank in all their misinformed bliss, when one day I realized that it wasn't informative at all. But it was entertaining!

I have no use for political talk radio. I've got forums that did that better.

KLSX Talk Radio entertained me. In the end it was entertainment. I can turn on my iPod if I want music.
